We need to take about Axel Tuanzebe, who put in an excellent display vs Everton last night.
Keeping Richarlison quiet isn’t an easy task. Doing it in an unnatural position while lacking match fitness is something entirely different. Credit where it’s due, Axel Tuanzebe was sublime last night.
We’ve always known that the young defender is supremely talented. However, he’s had some serious injury issues over the last twelve months or so. Let’s hope that he’s now behind the worst of it because there’s a top-quality player in there.
Pace, power, physicality and an excellent technique. This young man oozes class and I really cannot wait for him to make his mark on a global scale.
Sure, his final ball into the box was often lacking, while sometimes Tuanzebe did look a little hesitant to bomb forward. But that’s exactly why he’s a centre-half and not a full-back. Rather he was called upon to go out there and do a job due to lack of options in that right-back slot. He executed the gameplan perfectly.
I guess the only issue is where does he fit in the team? Obviously, Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof are first-choice right now, while Eric Bailly was also pretty good last night. If Tuanzebe can keep himself fit, I’d back him to push ahead of the Ivorian, with a view to dipping in and out of the team depending on the opponent.
Right now, though, he should focus on keeping himself fit, getting the minutes under his belt and playing his part in a side that has potential to win major honours this season.
As you’d imagine, United fans reacted in their droves to the 23-year-old’s classy display against Everton last night. Well played Axel!

Takefusa Kubo is edging closer toward Getafe and further away from Villarreal with every passing minute according to Diario AS.
The Japanese has earned few opportunities under Unai Emery this season and has decided his development would be better served by a move to Getafe than to stay at La Ceramica.
The player’s resolve is clear. The only thing to be decided is an agreement between his parent club, Real Madrid, and Villarreal, which doesn’t seem to be a problem given the feeling in Madrid is that they want Kubo to develop as well as possible.
A move to Getafe would also take him closer geographically. For Villarreal, it will free up space for winter reinforcements.
Jose Bordalas is said to be a big fan of the Japanese youngster and has the support of Getafe’s board. It’s thought their Copa del Rey clash with Cordoba on January 5th will come too soon but the trip to Elche following it could be a feasible debut.

Kubo leaves Villarreal having played 688 minutes across 19 games, figuring more in the Europa League than La Liga. He’s contributed three assists and a goal this season.
